Frequently Asked Questions

The Student Employment on Campus Program is designed with the student in mind. The Program recognizes that academic achievement comes first and for that reason provides flexible scheduling of work hours to accommodate your class timetable. The program provides students with the opportunity to gain practical work experience, often in positions that relate to the student’s field of study.

The Employment on Campus Assessment form is only to confirm that the student meets the financial requirements of the bursary fund. These forms do not get submitted with the rest of the application to the hiring manager.

They do not meet the requirements of the program because their tuition does not contribute towards the account that funds the Student Employment on Campus Bursary. However, these students are still encouraged to apply as there is different funding available to them.

Students can apply to as many jobs as they are qualified for.

No. A student employee can only work a maximum of 12 hours per week during the academic year.

Students may work in two different employment positions as long as the total hours worked does not exceed the maximum of 12 hours a week during the academic year.

All applications are forwarded to the appropriate School/Department for consideration. The School/Department will contact you if you are selected for an interview. Generally, interviews take place within two to three weeks after the job has closed.

You can work on campus as long as you are legally entitled to work in Canada. However, you cannot be funded through the Student Employment on Campus Program. If you are an international student, please check with the International Education department for funding opportunities.

Student jobs are posted on the Current Student Jobs webpage as well as on the Student Employment Job Boards at each campus. The Kingston Student Employment Job Board is located in the corridor between the Campus Book Store and Student Services. Each posting includes the job duties and qualifications, hours and duration of work, terms of employment and closing date of the posting.
